'The Sound Of BlueNote takes its lead from the greatest jazz recordings on the iconic jazz label. However, this is no slavish copy! The band perform gems from a treasure trove of originals from the likes of Freddie Hubbard, Hank Mobley, Lee Morgan and others but retains an identity, impressively, of its own. Slick ensemble passages alternate with inspired solos to bring this exceptional material very much to life! This may be a celebration of a golden musical age but in a modern and very relevant context.' -Alan Barnes
